Good Food Review | Sidewok – Pan Asian KitchenJune 11, 2018 8 By Kamalika Anand
I hope my reviews on the cafes in Satya Niketan – Wood Box Cafe and Cannies have been of help to you guys because now its time to share with you the review of one of my favorite restaurants, Side Wok. Side Wok has many outlets in New Delhi- Chanakyapuri, Khan Market, Greater Kailash-I. The one I usually go to is the one in Chanakyapuri.
Side wok is my all time favorite Asian cuisine restaurant. I love everything I’ve ever tried there, from soups to desserts. I’ve been a regular at Side Wok for a few years now and I’ve not even once been disappointed. I usually don’t even have to look at the menu to order but I try a few new dishes here and then.
Good Food Review: What did I order?
- Burnt Garlic Soup
- Salt and Pepper Prawns
- Pan Fried Noodles
- Vietnamese Grilled Chicken
Burnt Garlic Soup
Burnt Garlic Soup is the perfect choice for those who love mild, clear soups. As some may think, the “burnt” garlic may taste bitter but that is not the case. The overpowering taste of burnt garlic is all you need to satisfy your taste buds.
Salt and Pepper Prawns
THIS IS A MUST TRY FOR ALL PRAWN LOVERS.
The crisp, light battered prawns are all you need to have as appetizers. I can personally, never get enough of them.
For those who do not like prawns, Crispy Konjee Lamb and Beijing Chicken are good options as nonvegetarian starters and Chinese Greens along with Tofu Aniseed for the vegetarian options.
Pan Fried Noodles
From what I’ve written till now, it must be very clear that I’m all for this restaurant but I always go back for only one dish, the Pan Fried Noodles. I’ve tried it with vegetables, chicken and prawn and all three combinations are amazing.
The other dish that I order apart from Pan Fried Noodles is Claypot Sticky Rice in Thai Chilli Sauce. It comes with either jasmine rice or sticky rice and with three choices for the sauce to prepare this dish in and after trying all possible combinations, this is my favorite one.
Vietnamese Grilled Chicken
It is wonderful when you love a restaurant so much that you have a set order whenever you go there for a meal and for once, you take a risk and order something “unusual” and it turns out to be equally amazing.
Vietnamese Grilled Chicken, an aromatic dish (thanks to the Thai herbs) was served on a beautiful burner and in good quantity. It’s different from the usual Asian starters and a favorite for the health-conscious crowd out there.
Their sushi is also something that makes the cut for “my newly tried dishes” and I would just like to say that I’ve had better and to top it all, the wasabi they serve with it is very, very strong.
I have been reviewing restaurants on Zomato for more than 3 years and I hardly ever give a 5/5 Zomato rating to a restaurant but Side wok- both the food and the staff deserve it.
In case if you guys are wondering which phone or Camera do I use to click photos, I use Canon’s 700D/T5i DSLR & Xiaomi’s MI A1 phone to capture the photos,
Both come with decent camera quality, Canon 700D/T5i is a beginner’s DSLR Camera with good features and MI A1 is an android phone which is very easy for your wallet.

Kamalika Anand, 20. Expressing my love for food in the most clichéd way possible here. Food makes me happy. It has managed to keep me engaged and excited throughout, unlike all other hobbies I’ve had since childhood. I believe one can create magic in a kitchen with a handful of ingredients or simply by being open to tasting all kinds of food the world has to offer, starting now. I hope through this blog, none of its readers ever have to sit in a cafe or a restaurant in Delhi, flipping through a menu card, unable to decide what to order.
